PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
Public Works Director, Streator, IL (pop. 12,500). The City of Streator seeks a high-energy, experienced, and highly collaborative public works director to manage a broad range of services including street maintenance, waste water collection, park maintenance, fleet maintenance, animal control and maintenance of City owned facilities. The ideal candidate needs to be an innovative thinker and willing to be an integral member of the senior management team. Furthermore, the candidate should have a mentoring and collaborative management style, be team oriented and a great communicator.
The successful candidate will possess a passion for public service, be adept at combining a hands-on management style with confident professionalism and an ability to work with a variety of stakeholders. The position is responsible for managing a department comprised of ten full-time employees, seasonal part-time employees, and managing over $1.5 million in operating and enterprise fund budgets.
Significant public works and/or municipal infrastructure design and/or construction experience required. High school diploma or GED required. College-level public works related, CAD or civil engineering training preferred. Starting salary in the low to mid $90,000 range, depending on experience.
