On behalf of the officers, administration, and departmental associates, I am pleased to welcome you to Streator Police Department's web page. Using our department's growing technological resources is critical to our commitment and dedication to achieving the highest order of service to the citizens of our community.

The internet and this web site is as an "always available" source of critical and current information, and we are reminded of our departmental duty as an "always available" and "always prepared" force for the protection, preservation, and defense of your constitutional rights, life, and property. Thereof and therewith, we assert and commit all resources of this department fully in our uncompromising value of professional excellence and of the public trust.

The Streator Police Department is located in City Hall at 204 S. Bloomington Street in Streator, Illinois. In addition to new offices for personnel and records, the department's new station contains jail area, booking area, interview rooms, exercise room, and a secure evidence room.

In 2016, Streator’s 911 dispatch consolidated with Vermilion Valley dispatch. The consolidation has put Streator in compliance with a law Governor Bruce Rauner signed early in the year requiring counties with populations less than 250,000 people to have only one Emergency Telephone System Board.

With this consolidation, dispatchers will be able to continue to dispatch correctly and efficiently with the GIS Mapping available. This resources will make it possible to dispatch to any location in the district. VCom dispatch has undertaken training to be knowledgeable about Streator’s unique features. Citizens should expect to see no response time delays with their calls being directed to Vermilion Valley dispatch.

Thank you for visiting with us.

Security Camera Registration Program

We believe that working with the community to expand the use of existing technologies will assist in increasing public safety in Streator. The Streator Police Department has created a private security camera registration program that is designed to deter crime and promote public safety through collaboration between the Streator Police Department and the citizens and businesses of the City of Streator.

On our website, citizens and business owners can register their EXTERNAL security camera locations, system details and submit their contact information. If a serious crime is committed in view of a privately owned security camera, Streator Police Department will search the registration data for nearby cameras and contact the owner with a request for camera footage.

The registration process takes less than a minute and asks for:

  • You to read the Disclaimer and Terms of Use
  • The name and address of your location
  • Contact information for the owner or operator of the camera system
  • Details regarding your external security camera system

To proceed to the registration page, you can click on the following link: Register Now

AS PART OF THIS PROGRAM, AT NO TIME WILL THE STREATOR POLICE DEPARTMENT HAVE DIRECT ACCESS TO YOUR CAMERA OR CAMERA SYSTEM
