Department Description The City of Streator’s Engineering Department is made up of the City Engineer, Jeremy Palm, P.E. and the Engineering Technician, Jeff Long. The department provides full service engineering services for the City ranging from project planning, project design, construction supervision, and consultant oversight on larger projects. Annually the department is responsible for the design and oversight of the City’s general revenue and MFT roadway programs, small scale sewer improvements, required engineering studies, and City map updating. Construction News Kent Street Interceptor All sewer related work on the Kent Street Interceptor Project has been completed. Restoration of roadways and rights of way has been mostly completed with additional work to be done as weather permits in the spring of 2012. 2011 General Revenue Roadway Project The 2011 general fund construction project has been completed. This included the reconstruction of N. Madison St. from Morrell to Boys, 5th Ave. from Riverside to Sundown, and E. Elm St. from Wisconsin to Indiana. 2011 MFT Roadway Project The 2012 motor fuel tax funded project has been completed. This project included the in-place recycling and re-surfacing of W. Morrell St. from Bloomington St. to Harrison St. as well as E. Hickory St. from Park St. to Vermillion St. Vermilion River East Bank Stabilization Project The Vermilion River project is substantially complete. Minor grading and seeding work will be completed in spring 2012. S. Otter Creek Road Reconstruction Project Engineering is currently being finalized for the S. Ottercreek Rd. reconstruction project. This project is expected to begin in late spring or early summer 2012 and involves the reconstruction of S. Otter Creek Road from Main Street to 12th Street. Division and Bazore Street Bridge Replacement Engineering is currently being finalized for the Division and Bazore Street Bridge Replacements Project. The City has partnered with LaSalle County to replace the two box culverts over Prairie Creek near the BNSF tracks. This project is expected to begin in summer 2012 and involves the removal and replacement of two concrete box culverts. 2012 General Revenue Roadway Project The 2012 general fund construction project is currently being designed by the City of Streator engineering department. Construction of the project will begin in summer 2012 as part of 5 Year Program Estimates. WWTP Chlorine Contact Tank Expansion Project The City is currently out to bid on a project to expand the size of the chlorine contact tank at the wastewater treatment plant. City Park South Parking Lot Reconstruction Project A project to reconstruct the parking lot south of City Park is currently being designed by the City of Streator engineering department. Construction of the project will begin in summer 2012 and is to be funded using TIF funds. Other Projects
